Jerome Hunter

JEROME HUNTER has more than 35 years of educational work experience.  He has served as a classified employee, instructor and administrator at all levels.  His work experience includes two college presidencies as well as serving as Chancellor of a North Orange Community College district.

As Chancellor, Dr. Hunter reported directly to an elected Board of Trustees. He was responsible for all district operations including planning, organizing, and directing instructional programs, support services, and facilities development. The North Orange County Community College District encompasses 155 square miles and includes Cypress College, Fullerton College, and the School of Continuing Education. The district employs proximately 2,400 full- and part-time employees and has an operating budget exceeding $140 million.

Dr. Hunter currently serves as a Distinguished Lecturer at California State University Fullerton. The Distinguished Lecturer serves as support to the doctoral programs, specifically the specialization in the Community College.  In addition to teaching in the Department of Educational Leadership, the responsibilities of the position include:  identification of prospective students, identification of student mentors, participation in the selection of students and instructors and engagement in the Center for Research on Educational Access and Leadership.

A native of Birmingham Alabama, Dr. Hunter holds an Ed.D in Higher Education from the University of Southern California, a M.A. in Urban Studies from Occidental College, a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Riverside, and an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Santa Ana College.

He and his wife Adleane have three children and four grandchildren.
