Peggy Moore
Peggy began her community college career at San Jose City College (part time) in 1969. She taught English and Women’s Studies classes full time at Foothill College from 1972 until 1989 when she moved to College of the Siskiyous as the Vice President of Instruction from 1989 until her retirement in October of 2004. While at Foothill College she served on the Academic Senate, was one of the founders of the Foothill – DeAnza Faculty Association (the first independent union in the CC system). She was on the first negotiations team and served from 1977 until 1987. She also served as the Chief Negotiator as well as Association Vice President (8 years) and President (2 years). These were the years of the birth and adolescence of Shared Governance and she spoke as a member of a team from Foothill/DeAnza around the state on collaborative negotiations and shared governance. As the Vice President of Instruction at College of the Siskiyous she served as the District’s Chief Negotiator (when the faculty formed a union in 1995) and later served as the District’s Chief Negotiator for CSEA as well. Peggy served on nine accreditation visiting team and was the co-chair for the Self Study at Siskiyous when the College elected to be one of the three to undergo accreditation under the new standards. In addition, Peggy implemented enrollment management plans at Siskiyous which helped the college move the WSCH from 220 when she arrived to 404 when she retired. Peggy served on the CIO Board for four years, served as the CIO liaison to CCAOE in the North/Far North region, and served on several task forces including Career and Technical Education for the Chancellor’s Office. After retiring, Peggy served as the Interim Dean of Instruction (their VP position) at Lassen College for four months to specifically work on minimum conditions. She also served as the Interim Vice President of Instruction for Shasta College for nine months and the Interim Superintendent/President for College of the Siskiyous for 7 months. In her role at College of the Siskiyous, she chaired the search team for the permanent President. As a consultant with CBT, Peggy has worked with the Fiscal Crisis & Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) to evaluate and improve community college compliance with FCMAT standards. Consulting services offered: building growth programs in small colleges, enrollment management, strategic planning, negotiations, consensus building among constituent groups and community/agency partnerships. |
