Sandra Scott

Photo of Sandra ScottSANDRA SCOTT is an expert in resource development and project management for education programs and services. As a leader in connecting resources to the right programs, she has a secured millions of dollars in business and private foundation, state, and federal grants for education innovation and workforce development programs.

Since 1999, Ms. Scott has led California community college grant, career and technical education, regional economic development, and workforce training programs at Delta and Sierra College. She serves as the education representative on the Economic Development Board, and is a member of the Golden Sierra Workforce Investment Board.

When Ms. Scott came to Sierra College in 2002, the customized training/contract education practice was essentially non-functioning. Ms. Scott rebuilt the service, as well as other grant-based projects. Testimonials of her work are available here. In 2008, Ms. Scott worked with educators and employers to form the Sierra STEM Community Collaborative in 2008 to shape relevant, applied academic education and develop integrated curriculum that prepares students for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Ms. Scott was recently presented a Placer County Economic Development Award for her effectiveness mediating between the college and both the business community and local government agencies. Councilman Allard said of Ms. Scott, “She supports the college’s effort to make education relevant for students, increasing the number of local residents who find meaningful employment and advising local economic developers on the value of Sierra College to our community.”

Prior to coming to California, she served as Vice President, Economic Development for the Greater Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota from which she holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Bachelor of Science in Textiles, and a Master of Arts in Design, Housing, & Apparel.
