Workforce Analysis

Enhance Workforce Trends Data with Real-Time Analysis

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the California Labor Market Information System (CalMIS) generate the data typically used by colleges to analyze workforce trends and demographics. Unfortunately, this information is subject to the limitation of their statistical model and the rigor of their methodology.

The issue for educators and career seekers is that these trends can change dynamically over time and prevent the District from picking up new and emerging occupations. CBT’s expert workforce analysis model is different in a number of ways:

  • Our expert’s method is based on the concept of a labor market triad, composed of job seekers, employers and education.
  • Utilizing a combination of traditional LMI data and original field research, we produce the practical real time data on the education, skills and training needed by the region’s businesses.
  • Through this ethnographic model, trends are revealed that go beyond statistical data to tell the current story of particular industries, highlight local workforce issues, realities, and trends that affect job seekers, employers educators’ and training providers.
  • The information gathered will allow the college to gauge their traditional curriculum against the demands of the regional economy.

The outcome for the college is empowered, data-driven decision making that will allow you to engage the region’s businesses and industry in an effective career and technical training program.

As an added benefit, the direct nature of our research can also lay the groundwork for an ongoing relationship between the businesses we study and the college.  Wherever possible we will foster the development of these potential partnerships.
